A weekend in Barcelona showed the many faces of Iconic Houses in Catalonia. A short excursion to Girona brought us into contact with the work of architect Rafael Masó, who's house museum opened a year ago. We welcome Casa Masó, as well as Unesco listed La Pedrera/Casa Mila and some other exciting new Iconic Houses members from Spain.

MAMO roof top art center landed

On June 12th, a remarkable initiative adds another compelling reason to (re)visit Le Corbusier’s extraordinary Marseilles monument, the Cité Radieuse. MAMO – short for ‘Marseille Modulor’, a name inspired by the architect’s scale of proportions and simultaneously a playful take on the famous acronym of New York’s Museum of Modern Art, is the brainchild of local designer Ito Morabito, better known by his brand name of Ora-Ïto.

Villa Tugendhat is Europe’s most important and most authentic building by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. In 2001, the building was added to the Unesco World Heritage List. We ask Iveta our five questions.

Icon at Risk: La Ricarda / Casa Gomis

Set in the La Ricarda estate of north-eastern Spain, Casa Gomis is a serenely beautiful modernist house designed by the architect Antonio Bonet Castellana. But the woodland where it stands is sandwiched between Barcelona airport and Mediterranean Sea, both of which are expanding so rapidly that they threaten its future existence.
